Whether you’re going karting for a special occasion, or pursuing regular practice as a hobby, Midland Karting provide a fun, safe and challenging karting experience for racers of all ages and abilities.

The business, based in Lichfield, was established over 15 years ago by Director, Garry Mitchell, and born out of a passion for the pursuit. The multi-circuit venue hosts race events, 1-2-1 tuition, clubs and parties for children and adults alike.

Midland Karting also provide a range of corporate packages, perfect for a memorable client hospitality outing or internal team building. A little healthy competition never hurt anybody! Onsite facilities include conference rooms, WiFi, secure car parking and optional hot or cold catering.

With their karts fast-approaching the ten-year-old mark, Midland Karting decided it was time to upgrade their fleet, especially as the ageing models were proving incredibly costly to maintain. Working with world-leading and 33-year-established kart manufacturer, Sodi Kart, the team opted for 14 of the new GT4 models, which boast low operating costs and high levels of comfort and safety.

In order to gain access to the equipment they needed without affecting vital cash reserves, Garry and the team decided to explore Sodi Kart’s leasing option, provided in partnership with Johnson Reed. Whilst the maintenance savings from the new karts would put the business on course to break even on their investment within the first year, the initial investment would have been costly.

“Midland Karting took a decision to look at investing in a new fleet of karts to replace our ageing fleet. After taking a lot of time looking at what was available, we decided on a fleet of GT4 karts from Sodi. We felt that they looked good but also had a number of class-leading features, all aimed at improving the customer experience,” Garry said.  “This represented a significant investment for Midland Karting and via Sodi UK we were introduced to Jamie Collier at Johnson Reed. From our initial discussions, we found everyone particularly helpful and ultimately the funding was sourced for the new karts and we are now well-placed to continue growing an established business.”

Garry worked closely with Jamie at Johnson Reed, who managed to facilitate a lease agreement for the karts quickly. The tax savings and fixed repayment structure of the agreement mean that the new karts will be profit-generating from day one!
