We’re approaching the annual National Chip Week, held this year on 20th – 26th February across the UK. This year is special however, as the Potato Council are launching their “Choice Chip” awards, designed to highlight the best fish and chip shop as voted by the public.

The Awards, as stated on The Choice Chip Awards official website, is all about finding the tastiest chip shop chips in the UK:

The Choice Chip Awards are brand new for 2012 and we want you, the nation’s chip lovers, to get voting! We’re searching for the UK’s tastiest chip shop chips, voted by you – the nation’s chip lovers. If you believe the tastiest chips can be found in your local chippy then show your appreciation by voting for them in the Choice Chip Awards ‘Best Chippy Chips’ category. Maybe you’re mad about your favourite pub or restaurant’s chips? If that’s the case, let your fingers do the talking and show your support by voting in the ‘Best Pub Chips’ category. Voting starts from 13th January 2012.

Kate Cox, Chip Week campaign manager for Potato Council, said:

This is a really exciting opportunity for chip shops to put themselves on the map as serving some of the tastiest chips around. The awards will not only drive awareness and publicity for your shop, but build customer loyalty and boost sales – which can last long after Chip Week is over.
