Reforme with Rachael Case Study

Opening a fitness studio is no small step, especially when it means changing careers entirely. For Rachael, founder of Reforme with Rachael in Wakefield, it was the result of years of passion, training and a clear vision for doing things properly from day one.

From classroom to reformer studio

Before launching her business, Rachael spent her entire career as a primary school teacher. Alongside teaching, fitness had always been a constant in her life, from gym training and spin to aerobics in her earlier years.

It was only after a friend persuaded her to try a reformer Pilates class that things began to change. At first, she did not think too much of it, but after taking more classes she quickly found herself loving it. What started as curiosity soon became a serious commitment.

Rachael went on to complete high-quality reformer Pilates training over more than a year, before teaching in established studios. With experience behind her and confidence growing, she knew she wanted to work for herself.

Her goal was clear. She wanted her own space.

The challenge: investing in the right equipment

When the right studio space became available in Wakefield, Rachael decided to go for it. She knew exactly what she wanted for her studio. High-quality reformer machines and enough of them to run proper classes from the start.

Ideally, Rachael wanted around eight reformer machines, but funding them outright was not realistic. On her own, she could afford only three. Opening with fewer machines would have limited class sizes and slowed the growth of the business from day one.

The solution: business finance with Johnson Reed

Rachael’s equipment supplier, Align, suggested using their finance option and introduced her to their trusted finance partner, Johnson Reed.

Despite having no prior experience with business finance, Rachael found the process straightforward, clear and professional. In her own words, she “knew nothing about finance” but felt fully supported and guided through every step.

The application process was simple, communication was clear and everything was explained in a way that made sense. This allowed Rachael to move forward with confidence.

The result: opening sooner with the right setup

By using business finance through Johnson Reed, Rachael was able to open her studio in September 2025 with all the equipment she needed. She secured the full number of reformer machines, invested in quality equipment and opened her doors without delay.

Most importantly, she was able to start trading immediately, welcome clients straight away and build her business with the right foundations in place.
