Richmond’s Wackadayz: soft play and Lazer Fun under one roof

Wackadayz soft play centre in Richmond, North Yorkshire, is quite the social hub for toddlers, young children and adults alike. First established in 2010, the Humphries family took charge of the premises around two and a half years ago, and have since made several new additions to Wacky’s World, including a separate baby-safe section, the expansion of the toddler area and more recently, the introduction of Lazer Fun parties.
Managing Director, Cherell Humphries, studied Early Childhood Education and Teaching before going on to work as an NVQ Assessor in Childcare.
“Deciding to take over Wackadayz was a family decision. We wanted a family business and something that would interest my young granddaughter,” said Cherell.
The soft play centre offers a stimulating environment for children to learn, exercise and socialise. Johnson Reed previously financed the separate toddler-safe area, giving tired parents the rare opportunity to relax and feel reassured that the little ones are perfectly safe.  Alternatively, they’re very welcome to get involved- as they often do with the popular mid-week classes; ‘Splash and Crafts’ on Tuesdays and Wednesday’s ‘Mini Maestros’. Special occasions are celebrated with the appearance of colourful mascot, Wacky, and even Santa Claus himself paid them a visit at Christmas time!
Laser Fun was launched on New Year’s Day after a successful week of taster sessions, “We thought we’d try it out and that worked really well. We’ve already had a couple of children’s parties, and we’ve got a fully-booked weekend coming up.”
Yet again, the fun doesn’t stop with the littles ones. Wackadayz now stays open later in the evening, giving adults the opportunity to come in and play Lazer Fun in groups after 6.30pm- something a little different than your average meet in the pub!
Adding new facilities can be a gamble, but using lease finance to cover the capital and then offsetting the repayments against expected revenues, there are often immediate profits to be seen. Through the agreement, Wackadayz were able to purchase the latest lazer gun technology that simply tracks the game through a computer system with no vests or helmets required. Banks can often be quick to dismiss loans for more niche business sectors, but at Johnson Reed we understand and consider all your business needs.
We’re delighted the Humphries family returned to us for their financing needs. Cherell remained impressed with the service provided, “Johnson Reed were really good and quick to turn the agreement around. In fact, they were the ones chasing me rather than the other way round!”
